Genre For Our Magazine

For our magazine, we wanted our genre to be geared towards the media, and have a non-fiction approach aswell. We have created our magazine to serve a variety of purposes and that's why this is our genre. The uses of the media genre are to make sure we get these concepts, to educate, entertain, and persuade the consumers. Our consumers are young college students starting or ending college, but that shouldn't stop all other types of readers from buying our magazine. We are also non-fictional because we want our information to be factual, giving our reader the most correct information and having biased opinions when needed, to make an article sound more personal and make a connection with the reader.

To go along with the reasons for our genre and to go into detail, we want to educate our readers in any way we can, even if it is to tell them the best coffee places for late college nights. Our true purpose is to educate, because we want to give advise and give our knowledge on certain topics according to the magazine. Of course we want an entertaining magazine because no one intends to read a boring magazine, so it needs to be something the reader is attracted to and won't close the magazine after reading an article. We want to persuade the readers to make the right decisions  and do the right things. We want to give sound advice on how to do the right things when the time comes to work on final college applications instead of something else, that might hurt them. All of these concepts are the our goals of our magazines, so we will definitely do our best to portray them in our writing.
